Burke-Catholic Football Versus Millbrook

Posted On September 11 2010 By

It was another perfect day for High School football today! Nothing but blue skies, warm temperatures and a slight breeze across the field.

After covering the first game of the year for Burke-Catholic against Chester, we received numerous emails about providing coverage for other players on the team. Today, I was assigned to Andrew (#21) and Robert (#36) – both on the Burke-Catholic team. Their parents have commissioned us to capture action photographs to be used in one of our Customized Player Albums.

Thankfully, both Andrew and Robert played on the defensive side – so it was easy for me to swing the lens back and forth to grab incredible shots of them. The image above was Andrew working to intercept a pass by Millbrook. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to make the catch.

Going into the half, Burke-Catholic was down by a few points but quickly took the lead after half-time with two, near back to back, touchdowns. When it came down to the final moments of the game, Burke was trailing 26-41.

Burke Catholic Football Versus Chester

Our final football game of the weekend was between Burke Catholic and Chester. This was another parent requested game, but since both Loretta and I attended this one, I had some time to shoot extra images of some of the other players.

It was an extremely windy day since Hurricane Earl had just moved through – essentially making our 300mm lens into an umbrella at times! Thankfully, it was in short burst, so it didn’t make shooting as bad as I thought it would have been.

Both Chester and Burke Catholic played hard in the opening minutes of the game, not letting the ball get very far. Just after half time, Burke grabbed the lead but an unfortunate penalty gave Chester the opportunity to capture it back. As the final moments of the game counted down, Burke was given the chance to even the score or beat Chester with a two point conversion. With only a few seconds left, the final toss for Burke landed short and secured the win for Chester.

Kyle Against Monroe-Woodbury Football

Posted On September 6 2010 By

As Loretta covered the Minisink Valley versus Pine Bush game on Friday, I had plans to photograph Kyle, of the Middletown Middies, as he played against the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders. After having received his Basketball album, Kyle’s parents requested another just for his football season.

I arrived just before the start of the game to make sure that I had enough time to capture him warming up before kickoff. Feeling a bit like paparazzi, I followed Kyle around the field as the Quarterback got ready for his first official game of the season.

After things got underway, it was clear that Monroe-Woodbury was a very strong team, as they scored 35 points before the end of the first quarter. Thankfully, the coach’s made my job easy and kept Kyle on the field almost the entire time I was there – though not in a Quarterback position.

Over the next few games, we’ll continue to follow and photograph Kyle so that we can put together another amazing book for him and his parents. Just before leaving the game at half time, I decided to go a little artistic and grabbed the image below …

Minisink Valley Football Versus Pine Bush

Posted On September 6 2010 By

Since this was the first official game of the season for Minisink Valley, we headed out to the field a little early to make sure everything was perfect. With the remnants of Hurricane Earl looming around, we were sure if the game was going to get rained out or not. Though we had a couple quick rain showers, it wasn’t enough to cause a delay or cancellation.

In the beginning, both teams came out very strong, hoping to make the start of the season a good one.  After a good showing by Pine Bush and a couple interceptions, the score was a very close 17-14 in favor of Pine Bush. Once half time was over, Minisink kicked it into high gear and finished out the first game of the season with a 27-20 win over Pine Bush.

Another Year Of Football Begins

Posted On August 16 2010 By

After taking the last couple of months off from sports, it’s come the time for us to start getting back into the sports photography mode. With a few of the trees already turning colors, we know that it’s almost time for another year of football to begin!

Our first coverage of the new season will be a match between all of the players from Minisink Valley during their traditional Green And White Scrimmage. This game gives the players a chance to do a dry run before their first matchup with Pine Bush while giving us the opportunity to meet some of the new players.

Be sure to check out the site often as we’ll be posting action shots, videos and other awesome stuff from the games we cover! You can also follow the action by becoming our fan on Facebook. Simply visit http://www.wanamakersports.com/facebook!
